About

Hi everyone, thank you for visiting my (new!) blog.

I’m Sara & I write about the life and times of me and my baby girl ‘Chops’… you’ll have previously known her as ‘Snoo!’. My sister started calling her Chops when she was about 2 weeks old and it’s stuck!

I started blogging in January 2012 as I found myself alone with my thoughts almost every evening once I’d put my baby girl to bed and felt it might be helpful for me to have something of an outlet, a place where I can say what’s on my mind and hope that I find other like minded people along the way.

We’ve been through a whole lot since Chops came into the world in April 2010. I survived an abusive relationship, so I consider myself a strong single Mummy and at 26 I am also what many seem to consider a young Mummy too. I’ve been on my own with her since we were forced to leave her father when she was 13 weeks old which you can read more about here here in ‘Surviving’. Last year I was diagnosed with depression so I’m still wrestling those demons while trying to get the medication and everything else right to combat it. As for Chops, she is nothing less than the centre of my universe, my source of happiness and the heart beating at the core of the strength I have discovered since she arrived. Her favourite things in any order you like are:

  • Cake
  • Dancing to the Happy Mondays ‘Hallelujah’ with Mummy
  • The Niny Nonk
  • Dogs
  • Baked Beans
  • Hide & Seek
  • Peppa Pig
  • Twirling in circles to make herself dizzy
  • Getting up at 5am

I blog semi-anonymously as I find that a lot of what I want to write about are the things I don’t really feel comfortable discussing in the ‘real world’. My old blog as many of you know, didn’t include even my first name, but Sara & Chops are fairly common words and I’ve taken more privacy measures this time. If anyone finds me just off that I’ll be surprised!

So many of my posts will be as honest as it comes, if not brutally so. Hopefully over time I would like to be able to offer support in whatever small ways I can to others who’ve been through similar experiences- whether that’s a bad relationship, struggling with depression or perhaps you’re another single Mummy and you just want to say Hi! I’d love to hear from anyone who’s read the blog and if you can identify with it in any small way then all the better. I really hope you enjoy what you read and genuinely would love to hear your thoughts.

Lots of Love

Sara & Chops
