Viva La Onesie!

Ladies and Gentlemen. Well. Probably not gentlemen… possibly Spencer & his slanket and one or two others but I’m reckoning, mainly, LADIES! If you follow me on twitter, you will have seen that in the last week, I have made a purchase that has indeed changed my life. You will have heard me refer to it on a daily (who am I kidding, several-times-a-daily) basis. Yes, I refer of course, to my Onesie. Mixed reactions have been made to said purchase, from the shared joy of fellow onesie owners, to the inevitable questions of those who have not yet taken the plunge (“don’t you get cold when you go for … Continue reading

The Shreddies

Blatantly stealing the title of this blog post from the lovely Alison at Five Go Blogging, today was my first day of attempting Jillian Michaels “30 Dy Shred” DVD. I’d love to have another Shreddies joke to hand but unfortunately I’m just not that funny *sigh*. I’ve never done any exercise DVDs before but have heard a lot of people talking about this one, frankly it’s the fact that it claims to get results in just 30 days from doing a 20 minute work-out that sways me. I borrowed a friends zumba DVD to try out at home but honestly? It just went on for too long. I could handle the work out, but … Continue reading

Tired

Is anyone else always tired? I am ALWAYS knackered. I don’t know how long this has been the case. I suspect since I was pregnant. It worries me a little. I know I’m a single parent and all that but there are tons of other single parents out there who seem to manage way more than I do and just seem to get on with it. The amount that I can sleep when I get the chance is scary. I can quite easily get up in the morning and it take me two or three hours just to get myself off the sofa. If we’re at home in the afternoon when Chops takes … Continue reading

Absent Familiy

You probably know if you’ve read my blog before (I thank you) that I’m not in contact with my daughters father, (if not it’s here if you need bringing up to speed). I’m very lucky in that I have both of my parents nearby, Mum in Buxton, 5 minutes away from me and her husband, and Dad in Manchester with his wife and two step-sisters. My sister lives in Buxton, as do my Aunt and three cousins. My brother has been living on the Isle of Skye for the last 7 months but now he’s back and living in Buxton too. So I’m lucky. Her Dad might have opted out but … Continue reading

Meeting You

You were due on a Tuesday. 13th April 2010. I was huge, as you are at 9 months pregnant. We lived with your Dad still, I won’t talk too much about that aspect of it right now though. We have all the time you need for you to talk about that and ask the questions I’m sure you will one day have. The phone was going mental, people texting every five minutes to ask if you were here yet. Erm, no. Oddly enough, when I have, I won’t be keeping it a secret. I’d cleaned the house, washed everything, washed and dried your clothes, ironed them, organised them into drawers… … Continue reading

Image

Before I start. I’m sorry. Sometimes, I look in the mirror and I hate what I see. Not in a pouty, girl posing and saying it for attention way. Really. Before I get my hair sorted and I layer on my make up, when my hair is all matted and frizzy and generally awful and I’ve got pores you could fall into, huge bags under my eyes, and I’m all pasty and grey looking, when I look at myself- my actual self, not the self I spend making myself look like before I go out, it makes me feel horrible. Over the summer, I lost 10lbs and felt great. But … Continue reading

I Am Not Kat Moon.

Attitudes have changed in the office but not in a pub. That’s where you see what they really think is ok. We’re meant to have moved forward, become more civilised in the way we treat one another, certain language and behaviour where we work- or anywhere for that matter- is no longer considered acceptable. Sure. In that case, I would invite you to go and work a busy Saturday night in your local pub as a young woman in her twenties. For I can tell you from experience that in that particular environment, the attitude that people being arrogant, sexist, rude, derogatory and condescending is still not only alive and … Continue reading

Privacy

Not so long after I started blogging I ran into trouble with my privacy having been infiltrated. Basically I’d told my Mum I was blogging but that I was doing it privately, had explained the reasons behind that. I’d blogged about some of the worst aspects of my relationship with Chops’ Dad, I’d written about being diagnosed with depression, I’d written at length that I was struggling. One evening, I got a comment, left anonymously saying “Do you not worry that someone you know might find and read this? Including your horrible ex?”. I freaked out, it turns out, rightly so. About two weeks later I wrote a post, which … Continue reading

Overwhelmed

Today G and I took Chops to look around a nursery. Our first choice is now taking places for entry in September 2013 so off we went to take a look and start the process of getting her name down. The visit went well, but it has left my head kind of swimming. Chops is 3 in April, so will get her 15 hours government funding from September. Once she’s in nursery, I plan to either return to full time work or embark upon my PGCE Qualification. That in itself is a huge decision and whenever I start to really think about it, I start to go cross eyed, I … Continue reading
